Warwick Youth Team Cricket
Warwick Under 11's V Khalsa
Warwick travelled to Khalsa on Sunday for a friendly, which gave another opportunity to include players who did not feature in the league side. Warwick batted first and found runs very hard to come by on a slow, low, pitch and a slow outfield. Gianluca Mairoudis top scored with 7 including the only boundary of the innings which totalled 228. Dilian taking 2 wickets for the hosts. Khalsa found batting equally difficult but were always ahead of the rate due largely to the number of extras conceded by Warwick. Charlie Bewick with 3 for 14 and Gianluca Mairoudis 1 for 10 were the wicket takers while Jack Silvester only conceded 2 runs from his 2 overs. Kiran top scored with 4, but despite this the many extras ensured Khalsa ran out comfortable wnners on 253. Thanks to Warwick's Callum Webb for stepping in at the last minute to play for Khalsa and produced his best bowling of the season against his own club mates!
Warwick Under 11's V Kineton
A friendly at home to Kineton on Monday evening gave an opportunity for some squad rotation - there were plenty of debuts on both sides, and plenty of vocal support! Regular wicket keeper Rory Elliston stepped in to captain Warwick on the night, Kineton won the toss and chose to bat.
There were wickets for Gianluca, Callum Webb and Sophie Oates, a smart caught & bowled for Tyler and a good catch behind the stumps by Rory Elliston. Josh & Cameron top scored with 18 & 13 respectively. Kineton closed on 271.
Warwicks reply was steady, but no one was able to beat the field consistently, largely due to some excellent fielding, leaving Warwick 14 runs stort on 257. Tyler top scored with 9.
Thanks to all who played and their parents for supporting. Everyone seemed to enjoy themselves and I was really pleased that so much of what we try to coach was evident in the game.
Oh and congratulations to Sophie Oates who we believe is the first girl to represent WCC in youth cricket. Well played Sophie!
Friday 1st August
Please note that youth team training has been cancelled this Friday.
Please contact your relevant coaches for further info.
Many Thanks.
HUNNINGHAM V. WARWICK
Warwick started their u17 campaign with an emphatic win by 65 runs against Hunningham. The hosts won the toss and inserted Warwick and then watched as James Davies and Skipper Marc Passey put together an excellent opening stand of 112 for the first wicket.Davies was the first to go for a quick fire 61(8x4)(2x6),while Passey scored 54(8x4)(1x6).Wickets fell steadily after that as the chase for quick runs ensued. The innings ended on 144-5 from the alloted 20 overs with Fermahan taking 3-22 the most successful Hunningham bowler. In reply the visitors made short work of the home sides innings and bowled them out for only 79.Oliver Moore was the most successful bowler taking 3-13 whilst their was 2 wickets for Simon Wright and 1apiece for Alastair McKee and Dave Hadley.Paulson(19) and Fermahan(17) were the only batsmen to trouble Warwicks bowling attack.
WARWICK V. NUNEATON
Warwick entertained Nuneaton on a lovely evening and excellent wicket but fell 5 runs short in their quest for their second win.Warwick won the toss and asked Nuneaton to bat first. After an opening stand of 61 between Walters(29)and Khan(34)Warwicks bowlers fought back valiantly to dismiss the visitors for only 112.Oliver Moore again was the most successful Warwick bowler returning figures of 3-8.In reply Davies(27) and Passey(18) put on 30 for the first wicket but some tight disciplined bowling from the visitors made the hosts middle order struggle for their runs.Despite Moore reaching 21 Warwick could only muster 107-7 with Goodman 4-12 and Walters 2-26 the pick of Nuneaton`s attack.
CORLEY V. WARWICK
Corley withdrew from the competition.
Warwick Under 11 V Hunningham
The under 11s finished off their 2008 league campaign with back-to-back wins following victory over Hunningham at Hampton Road last night.
Skipper Jack Bewick won the toss and elected to field. The visitors made a positive start and despite good bowling throughout, Callum Webb was the only wicket taker. Good bowling also from Jack Bewick only conceding 2 runs from 3 overs. Luke Connelly caped an excellent fielding display with a direct hit to secure a run-out, while Rory Elliston gave an assured display behind the stumps. Hunningham closed on 241.
Warwick made steady progress towards the target despite losing 6 wickets. George Gill top scored with an impressive 17 not out. Andrew Dellow and last pair Jack Bewick & Luke Connelly batted well to see Warwick home comfortably in the end on 264.
Warwick Under 11 V Kenilworth Wardens
A good performance from the Under 11s earned a win in a close game at home on Monday.
Matthew Warren took over the captaincy but immediately lost the toss, Wardens electing to field first. Double figure scores from George Gill (12), Luke Connelly (13) & Matthew Warren (11) combined with excellent batting, running & calling all down the order ensured a good total of 263. The bowling unit again performed well with the pick of the attack being Andrew Dellow with 3 wickets. Wickets also for Matthew Warren, Luke Connelly & Jake Lota. Wardens were always behind the rate but good tip & run batting from last pair Alex & Edward made for a tense finish. Errors were forced from the Warwick fielders but the lads held on to win by 8 runs.
Kineton Under 11 V Warwick
The lovely evening on Monday saw the U11s visit Kineton for a League match. I havent been to Kineton for a few years but the ground looks great, or maybe it was the drinks & cakes laid on by our hosts. The game was in doubt until Sunday morning due to Kineton having 6 boys away on the same school trip, but they were still able to turn out a decent side, while we turned out possibly our youngest side this season.
Another good bowling performance, saw Jack Bewick & Matthew Warren take wickets and an excellent catch behind the stumps from Rory Elliston. Good bowling also from Charlie Bewick only conceding 1 run. Luke & Callum Webb and Andrew Dellow were unlucky not to pick up a wicket. Kinetons innings closing on 269 after some excellent textbook drives from Kineton captain Harry.
Big Hitting from Charlie & Jack Bewick made for an exciting run chase, but ultimately our young side werent able to maintain the momentum up and we ended up short on 239.

Warwick CC would very much like to welcome 'ANY' parents who would be able to scarifice some of their own time to help our youth section grow.
We are committed to trying to achieve the Clubmark and to this end we are setting up an Under 17's team this season. However, it is vitally important that ALL our youth team members are treaty equally and enjoy this wonderful game and the pleasures it can bring, so, come on, if you have some cricketing knowledge and feel you have some free time, the rewards are fantastic. Watching our own kids grow with the game along with some input - What could be better????
These are exciting times and we will strive to make the club environment everything your children would want it to be.
